With both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Trials of Mana doing so well, it wouldn't be out of the question for Square Enix to open its vault of classic 16-bit or 32-bit games for more potential remakes. The high numbers may not be fueled entirely by nostalgia, however, as the report also mentions increased demand in digital downloads during that same time period due to COVID-19. The latest financial earnings from Square Enix explicitly credits both Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Trials of Mana for the YoY rise in both sales and profits in the company's HD Game segment.Īs noted in the report which can be seen below, Trials of Mana sales have been so strong that they "have significantly surpassed" initial expectations. Despite launching in the same month as Final Fantasy 7 Remake with the real risk of being overshadowed, Trials of Mana still managed to sell very well on all platforms.
